My name is Joseph Tulloch. I'm an attorney in Raleigh, and my wife Sam and I are having a girl.

I thought I knew what this was going to feel like — nervous, excited, ready. Nobody told me about the rest of it.

There were nights I lay there doing math in my head that never worked out. I'd say "we're so excited" and mean it, while also feeling like I was disappearing a little at the same time. I used to be the guy who had answers, and I could feel myself slowly running out of them. Nobody prepares you for that part, because nobody really talks about that part.

Every app, every book, and every piece of advice I found was written for her, which made sense since she's the one growing a person. But I was changing too, and I didn't have anywhere to say that out loud. We're taught to hold the door, hold her hand, and hold it all together, but nobody ever tells us who's supposed to hold us.

So I built FASA. Not because I had it all figured out, but because I didn't, and I couldn't find a single place that admitted that was normal.

This is for the men going through the parts nobody has ever named, so that we can show up better for the women who are carrying the parts everybody already sees.
